I know many of you have experienced the pain of dropped calls and I wanted to share what I have found out in case its useful to you.
The iPhone does not have the ability to auto step-down to Edge or GPRS. Therefore, if it does not have signal it needs for a good 3g signal you will get dropped calls/failed connection and poor or non-existent data. I have left mine on Edge and it DOES work better. The inability to jump between 2g/3g without dropping a call begins to make sense as to one of the causes. Im sure if your city has more users than towers that can also contribute to the problem. I have traveled to other cities and noticed 3G works fine.
“AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson has now admitted that the company’s network is not up to snuff with the rollout of all the iPhones. In addition, the honcho has pledged that AT&T will spend billions of dollars to get it together with increased speed and capacity.” [source]
An excerpt for the article reads:
“AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson has now admitted that the company’s network is not up to snuff with the rollout of all the iPhones. In addition, the honcho has pledged that AT&T will spend billions of dollars to get it together with increased speed and capacity”
I wish Apple would let other carriers openly sell the phone and force ATT to get on the ball and make the service we pay for work as it should.
